Another jaw-dropping reboot is heading our way. Deadline reports plans for a remake of the iconic 1992 Steven seagal-directed action movie Under siege have already started at Warner Bros. Led by the director Timo Tjahjanto and writer Umair Aleem, the film is in preparation for HBO Max.

The 1992 film centered on Casey Ryback (Seagal), a former Navy Seal who is now a cook working on the battleship USS Missouri. After being punished by an executive officer for cooking dinner for the birthday of a commander who was already having a meal and entertainment delivered by helicopter, Ryback is punished by being put in a freezer. Soon after, Ryback hears a fight on the bridge. It turns out that the handlers and the group that were brought in are actually a group of hired soldiers led by a former CIA agent (Tommy lee jones) and now the ship is indeed Under siege, with only Ryback to stop them.

The original film, directed by Andrew Davis, grossed over $ 156 million worldwide upon release and earned a slightly lesser-loved sequel, Under Siege 2: Territory of Darkness, who still managed to earn over $ 104 million worldwide.

Tjahjanto made his directorial debut working on the V / H / S / 2the “Safe Haven” segment. The Indonesian filmmaker passed by The night is coming for us and May the devil take you, which are both currently available to stream on Netflix. His next project will be a remake of the Korean horror film Train to Busan, called Last train to New York.

VIDEO OF THE DAY COLLIDER

Aleem has already written Kate, a Netflix movie about an assassin who receives a lethal dose of poison and has less than a day to get revenge on her attacker before she dies. The movie played Mary elizabeth winstead and Woody harrelson. Aleem also stayed busy writing and selling his own plays, including an action-based script titled The Paladin and a scenario titled The Beast.

We have a lot to look forward to knowing that this talented duo is working on a reboot of one of our favorite action-packed blockbusters. It remains to be seen if Seagal will return to reprise his role or if the film stars him, Jones, or the star of the other film. Gary Busey for a cameo in the remake (please give us a Busey cameo!). There is no release date for the Under siege to restart.
