The ministry is banking on a youth program to restore the environment
Jakarta (ANTARA) – The Ministry of Environment and Forestry aims to encourage greater participation of young people in environmental recovery and protection efforts through Indonesia’s Youth Environmental Recovery Program, one official said.
“One of the groups most potentially involved is the youth. Therefore, the ministry involved Green Leadership Indonesia and (asked) all young people to play a role in the youth program to restore the environment of Indonesia, ”said the director general of social forestry and environmental partnerships at the Ministry of Environment and Forestry, Bambang Supriyanto, said Saturday at a virtual press conference.
The aim of the youth program is to provide a space for sharing innovations and creativity for the rescue and preservation of the environment, explained Supryanto.
In addition, he said, the program seeks to inspire young people to take action to encourage the spirit of environmental restoration among the public, so that they can become a role model for society.

The Ministry of Forests, through the program, is also seeking to open up the possibility for young people to form a network of environmental rescuers spread throughout the archipelago, he added.
“The last activity is to open a space for dialogue between young people and environmental and forestry policy makers,” he explained.
Such a dialogue between young people and policymakers in the environment and forestry sector will be a first for the ministry, Supriyanto added.
One of the real goals of the program is a series of seven activities to be held in December 2021, one of which is a dialogue between the younger generation, Minister of Environment and Forests Siti Nurbaya, and other officials. from the ministry when the program was officially launched, he said. .
Earlier, Deputy Minister of Environment and Forestry Alue Dohong also said that conserving nature and culture should become a way of life for the younger generation.
“This fits with the lesson the COVID-19 pandemic has given, where people will return to nature,” Dohong remarked on National Nature Conservation Day 2021, here on November 24, 2021.
