PETALING JAYA: A flood victim at Hulu Langat asked Cabinet Minister Tan Sri Noh Omar about the government’s late response to rescuing people trapped in the weekend floods.

The incident which went viral on social media yesterday showed a woman telling Noh Omar that no action has been taken by the government and enforcement agencies despite numerous appeals to government agencies.

She revealed that it was Indonesian citizens who ultimately came to the rescue instead of local agencies.

“On the day of the incident, we were trapped from midnight to 4:30 am. We called all government agencies, but no action was taken when we were in dire straits.

“We called the fire and rescue services, the civil defense forces and even the Sungai Besi military camp. I even tried calling a local TV producer for help.

“But no one helped us who were stuck in our house. No government agency came to help us.

“Why does help only come when the flood is already receding?” When the water reached the roof, none of them came to help us, ”we heard in a video recorded during the visit.

Noh, who is the Minister of Entrepreneurial Development and Cooperatives, was in Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Abdul Jalil to provide aid to flood victims.

The women also pointed out that the only agency that came to Hulu Langat during the tragedy was the Civil Defense Force, but that it was reportedly only equipped with three boats to help the entire district.
