Louisville vs. Air Force: Live Stream, Watch Online, TV Channel, First Responder Bowl Prediction, Odds, Spread
Louisville and Air Force will meet on Tuesday in the First Responder Bowl at Gerald Ford Stadium in Dallas. The game between the Cardinals and the Falcons offers a rather intriguing confrontation between the opponents of the ACC and Mountain West.
The Cardinals come off a disappointing 52-21 loss to rival Kentucky in their regular season finale, which came after two dominant wins over Syracuse and Duke, respectively. The Falcons have won three straight wins, including a 48-14 decision over UNLV to close the regular season. They beat the Navy but lost to Army this year, earning them a share of the Commander-in-Chief’s Trophy. This is the first time since 1993 that the three military academies are tied for the prestigious award.
Let’s break the match down and make choices straight and against the spread.
Louisville vs. Air Force: to know
Predictable but dangerous: The Air Force leads the country in rushing rushes at 342 yards per game, and the second-place Army is behind the Falcons at 281.08 yards per game. Put simply, the Air Force will not stray from its true identity, which means Louisville coach Scott Satterfield has had ample time to prepare his defense for what is to come. There is a problem, however. The Cardinals are 74th nationally in run defense after allowing 156.67 yards per game in their 12 regular season games, and are 94th in yards per attempt at 4.52. Teams typically do best against service academy infractions with several weeks to prepare. We’ll see if that old saying rings true in this game.
Force against force: Louisville is at its best when quarterback Malik Cunningham makes an impact on the pitch. The junior leads the Cardinals with 968 yards and 19 rushing touchdowns this year, and is one of the most dangerous double-threat weapons in the country. The Falcons rank seventh in the nation in run defense at 95.33%. Cunningham could be forced to win the game with his arm against a salty defense with limited possessions given the Falcons like to win the time of the possession battle. It should be fun to watch.
Is the trend your friend? : Louisville is 6-5 (54%) ATS this season, but Air Force is a whopping 7-3-1 (70%). The Falcons haven’t lost ATS since the first weekend in November and are 4-1-1 (80%) as an underdog. These trends are too hard to ignore. They will enter this one as 1.5 point outsiders, so consider a pinch of moneyline if you are considering investing in this one.

I’ll take Louisville to win and cover the small gap. The free time will do wonders for the Cardinals’ defense, which was embarrassed the last time around. This will keep this game relatively low and give Cunningham some extra possessions to work his magic on. He will cross the 100-yard rushing mark and the 200-yard mark in the air to lead his team on a high note in the playoffs. Prediction: Louisville (-1.5)
