MIRABEL, Quebec–(BUSINESS WIRE)–April 21, 2022–

L3Harris Technologies (NYSE:LHX) has been awarded a 4-year, US$482 million performance-based contract (PBC) extension, with option years, to continue in-service support of the CF-18 Hornet fighter from the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) fleet of aircraft until its retirement which is currently estimated at 2032.

As part of a sustainment business case process, the four principles of the sustainment initiative, namely performance, value for money, flexibility and economic benefits, were drivers for the development of the optimized and adapted solution. With this contract extension, L3Harris will continue to provide fleet and program management, maintenance, engineering, material management, electronic publications, integrated logistics support, data management and operational software support. Work will be performed at L3Harris’ Mirabel facility, as well as Canadian Forces Base (CFB) Cold Lake and CFB Bagotville.

“This contract recognizes L3Harris as Canada’s only fighter center of excellence and demonstrates our continued performance and commitment to customer focus, flawless execution and a long-term partnership with the RCAF,” said Ugo Paniconi, Managing Director, MAS, L3Harris.

L3Harris recently celebrated 35 years of supporting the CF-18 aircraft fleet, including significant structural life extension and systems modernization work that has helped the CF-18 remain relevant on the operational plan and increase the value of Canada’s investment in the platform. This latest performance-based contract will provide flexibility, economic benefits and value to Canada’s Sustainment Initiative.

L3Harris has created hundreds of high-tech jobs in Quebec with F/A-18 support contracts for Canada, Australia, Switzerland, Finland, Spain and the United States. The L3Harris Mirabel Division employs over 1,150 people across Canada and is one of the leading in-service support integrators for the Department of National Defence.
