He also hoped that the steeples will bring benefit and peace among religious congregations in Lanny Jaya District.
“I hope that the sounds of these bells can be a means of calling the congregation to come and worship, so that peace in the land of Papua is preserved. This is the goal of the Indonesian Defense Forces (TNI) here, we come for peace and I love the people of Lanny Jaya, ”he said.
According to him, the construction of these bell towers was initiated due to the lack of ecclesiastical equipment. Back then, people only used a piece of metal and an old oxygen tube for the bells, so some worshipers were often late for service.
The Yonif MR 412 Task Force of the Army Strategic Reserves Command built six bell towers in Pinime Church in Malagay village, Tipugwi Church and Lowanom Church in Malagayneri village, Mowi Church in Balingga, the Manggalome church in the village of Tima and the Wiyaware church in the village of Pirime.
Meanwhile, pastors and community leaders from each congregation expressed their gratitude to the task force for providing something useful to the congregation.
“We never thought of those steeples. Thank goodness for Battalion 412 Kostrad,” said Pastor Del Tabuni of Mowi Church.
