Frigates, Mine Countermeasures Vessels (MCMs), Fast Craft, Hovercraft and Auxiliary Ships are some of the equipment offered for sale by the UK Ministry of Defense (MoD).

A sales brochure released by the Department of Defense’s Defense Equipment Sales Authority (DESA) earlier this month revealed details of more than 10 Royal Navy (RN) and Royal Fleet Auxiliary (RFA) ships offered for sale and other potential services. DESA is the organization within the Department of Defense responsible for managing the sale and transfer of surplus military equipment from the British Armed Forces.

Among the vessels offered for sale are the RN Sandown-class mine hunters, which will be phased out of service by the end of 2025 as a new generation of autonomous MCM systems begin to enter service. Ex-HMS
Blyth
and ex-HMS
Ramsey,
decommissioned in Rosyth in August 2021, are already intended to be transferred to the Ukrainian navy, following the Babcock refits.

Five other ships – HMS
Penzance
, HMS
Pembroke
, HMS
