China reports 1,380 new COVID cases
China reported 1,380 new COVID-19 infections on September 9, of which 290 were symptomatic and 1,090 asymptomatic, the National Health Commission said on Saturday. Magnitude 6.1 earthquake hits Indonesia region
A strong 6.1 magnitude earthquake struck Indonesia’s Papua region on Saturday morning and was followed by a 5.8 magnitude aftershock minutes later, the US Geological Survey said. Both quakes struck at a relatively shallow depth of 15 kilometers (9.3 miles), about 272 kilometers from the city of Abepura, according to the USGS. No casualties or damage were immediately reported by authorities, but the Indonesian Meteorology and Geophysics Agency (BKMG) warned in a tweet of moderate shaking and light damage.
