CONOR Hourihane is hoping to boost Swansea City’s promotion from the league after joining the club on loan until the end of the season.
The Bandon football star hasn’t played for Aston Villa since late November and he jumped at the chance to join Swansea, who sit second in the league table.
“The guys have put themselves in a great position, it will be a fantastic race and I hope I can help them in the second half of the season and achieve what we all want to achieve,” said the West Cork man. . .
“I’m excited for the challenge and I want to come here and be successful.
“I wanted to go out and take on another challenge, I want to be a part of something. I want to cement the high side of the table and try to deliver a bit more for the rest of the season.

Hourihane has promotion experience having been a key player in the Villa squad that emerged from the Championship in 2019, and with his eagerness to get back on the pitch he is sure to prove to be an asset to the Swans. top flight from Steve Cooper.
“The gaffer was great to me when we spoke, he made it clear he wanted me here and I heard so many great things about the style of play and what it’s like to live in the city. It just ticked all the boxes and it made the decision pretty easy, ”says Hourihane.
“I’m desperate to play, I could have stayed at Villa for the rest of the season, but I want to play. I hope I can bring some experience because I’ve had some promotions in my career. But I also want to add quality, in terms of goals and assists, my numbers have been pretty good in the seasons I’ve played so hopefully I can bring that here.
Hourihane will wear the number 14 shirt at Swansea and could make his debut in this weekend’s FA Cup fixture against Nottingham Forest.
